Seller Quickstart Guide (#get-started)

Sellers get paid for taking safe, controlled losses against buyers' targets. This is the full flow: claim, lose, get paid.

There is nothing to apply for: linking your account makes you a seller (you get the Loss Seller role) and you can claim straight away. The How Selling Works button in #get-started has the short version of this guide.

Same as buyers - click Link Account in #get-started and submit a Limited (type 3) API key. See torn-api-key-guide.md. Relay needs read access to your attack log to confirm your losses; it cannot see your money, items, or anything else with a Limited key.

Step 1: Find an open contract

  1. Open #available-contracts. Every card shows the target, hits remaining, and payout per hit.
  2. Click Claim 1 or Claim 5 on a contract you can fulfill.
  3. Claiming reserves those hits for you for a limited window (default 10 minutes; admins can change it). If you do not deliver in time, the claim expires and goes back into the pool.
  4. Relay DMs you a claim card with an Attack button, Recheck Now, Request +5 Min and Cancel. The same card updates as each hit verifies, so you get one DM per claim instead of one per hit.

Only claim when you can attack right away: if 3 of your claims expire within 24 hours, claiming pauses for 12 hours (your balance and account are untouched). Cancelling in the first 60 seconds doesn't count.

First look for reliable sellers

Sellers with 10 or more completed claims, and 90% or more of their claims completed rather than expired, get the first 3 minutes on every new contract before everyone else (their /seller alerts DM arrives straight away too). Everyone else sees "opens to everyone in N minutes" if they press Claim early, and gets their alert when it opens. Deliver what you claim and you'll earn it.

Bonuses

When the server turns them on, new sellers get a one-time starter bonus after their first few verified hits (10 by default), and each month's top seller by verified losses and escapes gets a bonus early on the 1st. Both land in your Relay balance with a DM. There is no public leaderboard.

Before your first claim: check your faction allows loss selling, use your own medical items (never your faction's), and take your armor off.

Never miss good work

/seller alerts min_payout:340000 DMs you with claim buttons whenever a contract paying at least that much per hit goes live. Add priority_only:true to hear only about priority orders, which pay more per hit because part of the buyer's priority surcharge goes to you. /seller vacation pauses the alerts.

Some large orders run at a daily pace (for example 300 hits per Torn day). When today's quota is full the card shows a greyed-out Today's quota is full button and the order opens again after 00:00 TCT. A paused order shows Paused by the buyer.

Step 2: Take the loss

  1. Go find the target in Torn and attack them.
  2. Strip your armor () and equip a harmless weapon (or none) so the fight ends in a clean loss, not a hospital stay you did not want or, worse, a mug.
  3. Lose the fight. Do not run, do not use a medical item mid-fight to turn it around.

Step 3: Get verified automatically

Relay polls your attack log every ~25 seconds. When it sees a matching loss against the claimed target, it marks that hit verified, updates your claim, and credits your balance immediately. You do not report anything manually.

Your deliveries per day, earnings and claim history are also on the web dashboard: run /dashboard for a private sign-in link.

Step 4: Cash out

  1. Run /wallet cashout or click Request Cashout in #my-wallet.
  2. An admin sends your balance in-game and marks the request paid.

The one rule that ends careers here

Never mug the person attacking you, and never let your fight look like a real fight that could be a mug. Read anti-mug-policy.md in full. It is zero tolerance: one confirmed mug and you are permanently banned from selling on this server, no appeals, no partial payout for that claim.
