Buyer Quickstart Guide (#get-started)
You want your stats to lose. That is what Relay sells: safe, controlled losses against a target you pick, delivered by vetted sellers, paid for in Torn dollars you deposit up front. This page is the whole buying flow, start to finish, no assumed knowledge.
Step 0: Link your Torn account
-
Go to
#get-startedand click Link Account (or run/setupif you are an admin who has not run it yet). -
A form pops up asking for your Torn API key. Read
torn-api-key-guide.mdfirst if you have not made one - it must be a Limited (type 3) key (a Custom key needs every selection that guide lists), never Full. -
Submit the form. Relay verifies the key against
api.torn.com, stores it encrypted (see ), and links your Discord account to your Torn ID.
You only do this once.
Step 1: Deposit funds
Loss hits are paid from your Relay balance, which you fund with items (for example Xanax) rather than cash, so nobody holds muggable cash:
-
Use Torn's Send Item to send accepted items to the Relay holding
account named in
#my-wallet. Admins list the accepted items and what each is worth (/bank itemprice list). - Relay reads the holding account's item log and credits you automatically within a minute or two, then DMs you. Items sent before you linked your account are credited as soon as you link.
-
Check
/wallet balance(or the Check Balance button in#my-wallet) to confirm the funds landed.
Step 2: Place an order
-
Go to
#buy-lossesand click Order Losses, or run/order new. -
Fill in the form:
- Target Torn ID or name - who should be attacking you.
- Number of hits - how many losses you want recorded.
-
Submit. The price is taken from your Relay balance.
- Balance covers it: the order goes live immediately. You get one DM with the details and a Need Help button; pressing it opens a private ticket with the admins. Otherwise updates come by DM.
- Balance falls short: what you have is taken and you owe the rest. A private ticket channel opens; top up with items, the rest is taken automatically, and an admin gives the GO once it is settled.
Faster: order from the website
The order planner on the Relay website sets up exactly what you want. If you're signed in (run /dashboard once), press Send to Discord and the bot DMs you the confirm screen, filled in. Nothing is charged until you press Confirm there.
Not signed in, or DMs closed? The planner also shows a code for the same order, for example L250P-D300 (250 losses, priority, 300 a day). Copy the command and paste it in Discord:
/order new code:L250P-D300
The bot skips the form and opens the confirm screen with everything filled in. The price is always worked out by the bot at that moment, so the code can't change what you pay. Codes: L losses or E escapes, then the number of hits, P for priority, -T<Torn ID> for a target other than you, -D<hits per day> for a daily pace.
Options on the confirm screen
- Priority: costs 20% more per hit, and half of that is added to the seller payout, so sellers fill priority orders first.
-
Escapes instead of losses: see
escape-guide.md. - Target status: Relay warns you if the target is in hospital, jail, or travelling, because sellers can't land hits until they're back.
Large orders
Orders can be as big as 15,000 hits. For anything big, set a daily pace so delivery stays steady:
/order pace <order> 300
Sellers can then claim at most 300 hits per Torn day on that order, and you get a progress DM after each Torn day rolls over. 0 removes the pace.
Step 3: Wait for sellers to claim your hits
Live orders post to #available-contracts where sellers reserve ("claim") hits against your order. You do not need to do anything here - Relay tracks claims and verifies attacks automatically via the Torn API.
Step 4: Losses land automatically
Relay polls Torn's attack log for your account and matches incoming attacks to open claims. Each verified loss:
- Marks that claim's hit as fulfilled.
- Pays the seller their cut automatically.
-
Reduces your order's
hits_remainingcounter.
When hits_remaining reaches zero your order is marked completed and your ticket closes.
Only a Lost result counts for a loss order (only Escape for an escape order). Stalemates, timeouts and wins are not paid, and a mug gets the seller flagged and the hit put back on the board.
Proof of delivery
/order report <order> shows who delivered, when, and how fast, with a CSV of every hit and its Torn attack log link. The same report is on the web dashboard: run /dashboard for a private sign-in link.
Common mistakes to avoid
-
Do not fight back. If you counter-attack or the attacker gets
mugged, see
anti-mug-policy.md- it can void the hit and get the seller (and sometimes you) penalized. - Do not wear armor or carry a real weapon. See . A loss that looks like a real fight will not verify cleanly.
-
Cancelling:
/order cancelrefunds what you paid for undelivered hits to your balance./order pausestops new claims for a while. The same controls (pause, resume, change open hits, cancel) are on each order's page in the web dashboard (/dashboard), next to a cash-out form on the Wallet page.
